The Obama-Pelosi hustle
After a long day of listening to the mostly emotion based pro and logic based con arguments on Obama-Pelosi national health care, it all came down to the last 15 minutes. The bill passed the US House of Representatives last night, 220-215. Joseph Cao, is the lone Republican “yea” vote on H.R. 3962. Thirty-nine Democrats voted “no”.
Scroll as close as you can to 746 on the 14 hour and 32 minute tape to hear the closing statements on the bill. Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) provides us a lot of information, including page numbers and sections to key in on analyzing. His statement really blew me away.
This is a short clip of what the new national health care bureaucracy is expected to look like.
On November 6th the Congressional Budget Office and the Joint Committee on Taxation updated their estimate on the direct spending and revenue effects of the national health care bill. Here it is for any interested budget geeks.
If you wish to listen to your particular representative you can do so here.
The US Senate has not yet had a vote on their bill proposal. After a US Senate vote, both the House and Senate bills would then need to be reconciled, final votes cast by Congress, then signed into law by Obama. There is still time for us to be proactive, hopefully with the help of an even larger congregation of disillusioned Americans.
The House national health care that passed would affect our country and way of life in many profound ways. Per Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA), the massive 2,000-page bill contains the word “shall” 3,400 times. Shall means that there will be 3,400 pervasive mandates to the health care industry, bureaucracy, businesses, and citizens of our country.
My gut feeling on this national health care proposal is the same as that when watching the 2008 Presidential election results. Unassuming citizens elected an ideologue President. Obama has now surrounded himself with many others who share in a radical transformation of our country.
The Americans voted for a change in administration, but the Obama-Pelosi hustle that is charging at us may not be what the voters had in mind.
